Dear Students,
We know that Mathematics is Prince of the Science and Engineering. Mathematics is used as an essential tool in natural sciences, engineering medicine and the social sciences. Mathematics helps us understand the world and provides an effective way of building mental discipline. Math encourages logical reasoning, critical thinking, creative thinking, abstract or spatial thinking, problem-solving ability, and even effective communication skills. Mathematics makes our life orderly and prevents chaos.
Can we imagine life without mathematics?
Math is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, computers, software, architecture (ancient and modern), art, money, engineering and even sports. We use math concepts, knowingly or unknowingly in our everyday life.
Math is needed at every step of life, and we cannot live without it. It is a subject that is applied to every field and profession. It tells us how things work, and also allows us to predict certain things, which is how we have progressed so much in life.
Mathematics often forms the essential glue in collaborations; it’s the universal language of the sciences and highly beneficial to all of them.
In the Department of Mathematics, we’re committed to provide new opportunities for under-graduate students. Now, we’re in the process of discussing how to make the best use of our enhanced resources. The College and the department have been very supportive to the students.
The broad areas of specialization of the faculty are Algebra, Analysis, Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, Geometry, Laplace and Fourier Transforms and Number Theory.
As we move on, we would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported us in this role and to all the alumni who have shared their time or expertise or chosen to support us financially.
Dr. Ganesh L. Rokade
